Meeting with the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron
On June 9, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the French Republic, Honorable Emmanuel Macron in Nice on the sidelines of the third United Nations Ocean Conference.
The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and France.
At the beginning of the conversation, Emmanuel Macron thanked the President of our country for accepting the invitation and participating in the international events in Nice, and emphasized the leading role of Tajikistan in global water and climate agenda.
The President of France also congratulated the Tajik side on the successful holding of the first High-level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation in Dushanbe.
In continuation, the sides paid great attention to the development and expansion of cooperation in the trade and economic sectors, energy, industry, agriculture, investment and technology attraction, and mining and processing of minerals.
The deepening of collaboration in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, science and education, and tourism was considered necessary.
Strengthening interparliamentary ties was identified as one of the key elements of bilateral relations.
Satisfaction was expressed with the developing process of partnership between the countries within the framework of international organizations, primarily the United Nations.
Cooperation on climate change and its consequences for the environment, including within the framework of the “Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences” (2025-2034), was one of the important topics of the conversation.
The close and similar positions of the countries on ensuring regional and global security, in particular the fight against terrorism and extremism, were emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, invited the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
