Meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Delegation of the Asian Development Bank Mission in the Republic of Tajikistan

On April 14, 2025, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade between the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvohid, and the Head of the Asian Development Bank mission in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Ko Sakamoto, along with his delegation. During the meeting, the results of the Country Diagnostic Studies for Tajikistan and the project for a new Country Partnership Strategy of the Asian Development Bank with the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 were discussed.

 

According to the agenda, special attention was given to strengthening cooperation in priority areas, including trade economics, investment industry, healthcare, education, energy, rural development, budget support, border security, human rights and the rule of law, green economy, digitalization, development of technology parks and digital technologies, participation in financing the construction of the Rogun Hydropower Plant, cooperation on regional issues, as well as facilitating trade and implementing e-commerce systems in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Solehzoda A. A. briefly reported on the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in these areas and requested the Asian Development Bank to increase funding for priority sectors in Tajikistan, including green energy, particularly in the construction of hydropower plants, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, digitalization, and border strengthening.

During the meeting, Mr. Ko Sakamoto stated that the country’s analytical study would comprehensively cover the current economic situation and opportunities for further development and would serve as a basis for developing the partnership strategy for 2026-2030.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in implementing a joint program for sustainable economic development, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting the private sector.
