The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade solemnly celebrated the Day of Economists

On April 8, 2024, a solemn meeting was held at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in honor of Economists Day with the participation of the management and employees of the central office of the Ministry.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin congratulated the country's economists and ministry workers on their professional holiday and noted that under the wise policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, economists contribute to solving important socio-economic problems of the country , participate in ensuring sustainable economic development and, on this basis, improving the standard of living of the people.

As a result, over the past twenty-three years, despite the negative impact of threats and external factors, the country’s economic development has been annually achieved at an average of 7.7%, the gross domestic product has increased from 1.8 billion somoni in 2000 to 130.8 billion somoni in 2023, and the monetary income of the population from 1 billion to 113 billion somoni, or 113 times.

Including the development of the country's economy in 2023 amounted to 8.3 percent, which was mainly ensured by increasing the volume of industrial production by 12 percent, agriculture by 9 percent, investment in fixed assets by 22.5 percent, freight transportation by 16.6 percent, paid services by 14.1 percent, trade turnover by 13.4 percent and passenger transportation by 9.8 percent.

International financial organizations have assessed Tajikistan as a country with high rates of economic development.

Today, employees of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade took into account the following direction of the Message of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan:

“The highest goal of the state and government of the country is to ensure sustainable economic development of the country by increasing the efficiency of using existing resources and opportunities, searching for new sources of development, developing the fields of science, education, healthcare, human development and thus systematically improving the level and quality of life of the glorious people of Tajikistan "

At the end of the solemn event, active workers of the ministry were awarded a Certificate of Honor for meritorious services.

It should be noted that in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays,” April 8 is celebrated annually in the country as Economists’ Day.
