The Economic and Trade Forum of Tajikistan and Qatar was held in Dushanbe

As part of the official visit of the delegation of the State of Qatar to Tajikistan on October 19, 2023, the Tajik-Qatari Trade and Economic Forum was held under the leadership of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade - Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvohid and the Head of the investment sector of Asia and Africa in the Qatar Investment Authority, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the transnational telecommunications company “Ooredoo Group” - Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani.

During the Forum, the parties noted that the state visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Republic of Tajikistan on June 8, 2023 and special meetings with the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, opened a new page in bilateral relations.

During the Forum, presentations were made on investment opportunities in Tajikistan, opportunities for free economic zones, prospects for priority projects by the Committee for Environmental Protection, the Main Department of Geology, Avesto Group LLC, Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) OJSC and Gayur Group LLC.

In addition, investments and attraction of Qatari funds were proposed in a number of priority projects, including the Dangara International Passenger and Cargo Airport, the modernization of the Tajik Aluminum Plant (TALCO), investments in the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Shurob Hydroelectric Power Station and the creation logistics center for processing, packaging, storage and export of agricultural products.

In turn, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani and the delegation of the State of Qatar welcomed the projects proposed by Tajikistan and expressed their readiness to begin cooperation in their implementation.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand bilateral cooperation and provide a platform for ongoing dialogue.
