The Minister of Economic Development and Trade discussed the issue of intensifying investment cooperation with the Deputy Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank Board

On July 25, 2023, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Commissioner at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) from Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, and Deputy Chairman of the EDB Board, Ilyin Denis Vyacheslavovich.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that within the framework of the wise and far-sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with development partners, including the EDB, is important for the development of the national economy.

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the EDB, attracting concessional funds due to the influence of external factors, new priority projects based on the country's development goals and the prospects for medium-term cooperation.

 

In this regard, Zavqizoda Z. A. asked the Deputy Chairman of the EDB Board to increase funding for the socio-economic sectors of Tajikistan in order to achieve the strategic goals and priorities of the Government of the Republic, including industrialization, energy, strengthening export potential, development of green and digital economy.

 

In turn, Ilyin D.V. expressed his willingness to increase funding for projects in these areas and the parties assured that they would increase the Bank's investment portfolio in the Republic of Tajikistan to 3% of the Bank's total investment portfolio by the end of this year.

 

It should be noted that to date, 13 investment projects on the part of the EDB and its structures for a total of $266.4 million, including 7 grant and preferential projects of the Eurasian Fund for Stability and Development of the EDB in the amount of $215 million and 6 projects of the Bank itself for the amount of 51.4 million dollars were sold in various sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan.
